ANIMAL FARM

ANIMAL FARM by George Orwell 144 pp. Penguin Group. £8.99. (Ages 13 and up) ISBN 9780141182704 Rating: ? Stars     This book is set in a future when animals are much cleverer than now. And because of their cleverness, the pigs started a revolution against the humans. Pigs could speak fluently in English unlike the other animals, and that gave them the power to be leaders. But, the story that follows only happened a few years after that...     Their first leader, Old Major, was kind and fair who knew animals should be equal. But when Napoleon became the leader it was very unpleasant. He made a rule that allowed the pigs to have better food and that forced all of the other animals to work crazily hard every day and night. That wasn’t enough, Napoleon wanted more power.     He decided to kill his brother, Snowball, so that he would be the only leader. Snowball was admired because he came up with a clever idea to build windmill. Sn...

Top Ten Best Book Boyfriends of 2012

Today is day three of my most favourite week of the book blogging community- the Top Ten lists of 2012! This year's Top Ten of 2012 is hosted by Lisa from A Life Bound By BooksJessica from Confessions of a BookaholicJaime from Two Chicks on BooksMindy from Magical Urban Fantasy Reads, and Rachel from Fiktshun!

*In no particular order*

1. Jace Wayland from Cassie Clare's "City of Lost Souls": This is a given. I don't think that Jace will ever not top my list of book boyfriends. He is the epitome of YA book boys IMO.

2. Adrian Ivashkov from "The Golden Lily" by Richelle Mead: I have been a Dimitri fan through and through, however, I have felt myself becoming more and more drawn to Adrian as Richelle's "Bloodlines" series develops more and more. Adrian made my heart a complete puddle with his confession in "The Golden Lily".

3. R from "Warm Bodies" by Isaac Marion: Move aside vampires and werewolves! Zombies are quickly raising in ranks as the most swoon-worthy YA book boys!

4. Lucas from "Easy" by Tammara Webber: While most of the boys on this are on it because they are super strong characters Lucas is on this list because he makes Jacqueline super strong in body, mind  and soul.

5. Chris from "Storm" by Brigid Kemmerer: While I love all of the Merrick brothers I especially love Chris with him being the "original".

6. Daemon from "Onyx" by Jennifer L. Armentrout: Daemon said my most favourite quote of 2012- "I've thought about the repercussions- it's all I've thought about" (pg. 139). 'Nuff said!

7. Darius from "Soulbound" by Heather Brewer: Forget the "right" or "proper" boy for Kara- Darius is so much more interesting!

8. Adam from "Where She Went": While I was only iffy on "If I Stay" I LOVED this book. Why? Almost entirely because of Adam. Nobody does swoon and angst quite like Adam does.

9. Four from "Divergent" by Veronica Roth: I don't think that you could get much better than bad-ass incarnate.

10. Tristan from "Anew" by Chelsea Fine: Can you notice a trend? If he is all angsty and broken I am ALL OVER HIM.

Short Story Review: Dream Dark

When Link joined his best friend, Ethan Wate, on a quest through a mysterious network of underground passageways endlessly crisscrossing the South, he knew the journey would be dangerous. But returning home to Gatlin, South Carolina was just the beginning... Wounded during a climactic battle, Link discovers that tending his injuries won't be as simple as visiting a doctor and that healing his arm should be the least of his worries. For being bitten by a Supernatural does more than break the skin -- it changes a person, inside and out, turning Link into someone more and more like the dark creature who injured him. In this never-before-seen short story by   New York Times   bestselling authors Kami Garcia and Margaret Stohl, readers witness Link's heart-racing transformation.   Dream Dark   is set before the much-anticipated third Beautiful Creatures novel,   Beautiful Chaos , and as a special bonus includes an exclusive sneak peek at the first five chapters. "Never Too Far" by Abbi Glines

Release Date: February 25, 2013 Publisher: Self-Pub From Goodreads:  "He had held a secret that destroyed her world.   Everything she had known was no longer true. Blaire couldn’t stop loving him but she knew she could never forgive him.  Now, she was back home and learning to live again. Moving on with life… until something happened to send her world spinning once again. What do you do when the one person you can never trust again is the one that you need to trust so desperately? You lie, hide, avoid, and pray that your sins never find you out." *Please note that while I have made all attempts to shield them, this book does contain a few spoilers. If you do intend to read this book do not read any further (unless you aren't bothered by them)* I am divided about this book- due to a number of seemingly contradictory elements that it possesses. On the one hand I loved how independent Blaire was, not only more than willing to raise her child on her own, but letting Rush go...

ARC Review: "Earthbound" by Aprilynne Pike

Release Date: July 30, 2013 Publisher: Razorbill Pages: 352 From Goodreads: "Love, fate, and power collide in this new series by #1 New York Timesbestselling author Aprilynne Pike! Tavia Michaels is the sole survivor of the plane crash that killed her parents. When she starts to see strange visions of a boy she’s never spoken with in real life, she begins to suspect that there’s much about her past that she isn’t being told. Tavia will soon discover that she’s an Earthbound—someone with the ability to create matter out of nothing—and that she alone holds the key to stopping the Reduciata, an evil society that manipulates global events for its own shadowy purposes. Tavia will ultimately have to make a choice: to come into her powers and save the world from the evil Reduciata or to choose free will and a love of her own." Admittedly I was quite hesitant to read this book- why? Because Aprilynne's "Wings" series is one of my most favourite series and I didn'...
